The Zerona laser is gaining popularity across the country, and it's available in Virginia.
The Zerona laser is a popular no-surgery liposuction treatment that's sweeping the nation, and Virginia is no exception. WRIC spoke to Dr. Richard Redman of the Advanced Plastic Surgery Center about Zerona - what it is and how it works. Zerona is a laser treatment that heats fat cells to the point of bursting so that the fat leaks out and is then expelled through the body's lymphatic system. The treatment is completely painless with no downtime and takes about 40 minutes per session, with a total of 6 sessions over 2 weeks. The patient must take vitamin supplements, exercise, and drink a lot of water to ensure the fat is removed. According to WRIC, the cost is about a third of liposuction, however the results will likely not be as long lasting. With Zerona, the fat cells are still there, just empty, unlike with liposuction where the cells have been completely removed from the body.
